Brit  Ha`Dashah - Matthew 26:17-30

Exodus 10:

1  Now HaShem ( hv!hoy4) said to Mosheh (hw,mo), "Go in to Pharoh (hfor4Pa); for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants, that I may show these signs of Mine before him,

2  "and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and your son's son the mighty things I have done in Mitsraim, and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am Adonai."

3  So Mosheh and Aharon came in to Pharoh and said to him, "Thus says HaShem Elohe of the Iv-rim: `How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

4  `Or else, if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your territory.

5  `And they shall cover the face of the earth, so that no one will be able to see the earth; and they shall eat the residue of what is left, which remains to you from the hail, and they shall eat every tree which grows up for you out of the field.

6  `They shall fill your houses, the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians__which neither your fathers nor your fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were on the earth to this day.'" And he turned and went out from Pharoh.

7  Then Pharoh's servants said to him, "How long shall this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve HaShem Eohehem (Their God). Do you not yet know that Mitzraim is destroyed?"

8  So Mosheh and Aharon were brought again to Pharoh, and he said to them, "Go, serve HaShem Elohechem (your God). Who are the ones that are going?"

9  And Mosheh said, "We will go with our young and our old; with our sons and our daughters, with our flocks and our herds we will go, for we must hold a feast to HaShem."

10  Then he said to them, "HaShem had better be with you when I let you and your little ones go! Beware, for evil is ahead of you.  (Pharoh thinks their up to no good.)

11  "Not so! Go now, you who are men, and serve HaShem, for that is what you desired." And they were driven out from Pharoh's presence.

12  Then HaShem said to Mosheh, "Stretch out your hand over the land of Mitzraim for the locusts, that they may come upon the land of Mitzraim, and eat every herb of the land__all that the hail has left."

13  So Mosheh stretched out his rod over the land of Mitzraim, and HaShem brought an east wind on the land all that day and all that night. When it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

14  And the locusts went up over all the land of Mitzraim and rested on all the territory of Mitzraim. They were very severe; previously there had been no such locusts as they, nor shall there be such after them.

15  For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they ate every herb of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left. So there remained nothing green on the trees or on the plants of the field throughout all the land of Mitzraim.

16  Then Pharoh called for Mosheh and Aharon in haste, and said, "I have sinned against HaShem Elohechem and against you.

17  "Now therefore, please forgive my sin only this once, and entreat HaShem Elohechem, that He may take away from me this death only."

18  So he went out from Pharoh and entreated HaShem.

19  And HaShem turned a very strong west wind, which took the locusts away and blew them into the Red Sea. There remained not one locust in all the territory of Mitzraim.

20  But HaShem hardened Pharoh's heart, and he did not let the Son’s of Yisrael go.

21  Then HaShem said to Mosheh, "Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Mitzraim, darkness which may even be felt."

22  So Mosheh stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Mitzraim three days.

23  They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the Son’s of Yisrael had light in their dwellings.

24  Then Pharoh called to Mosheh and said, "Go, serve HaShem; only let your flocks and your herds be kept back. Let your little ones also go with you."

25  But Mosheh said, "You must also give us sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice to HaShem Elohenu (our God).

26  "Our livestock also shall go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind. For we must take some of them to serve HaShem Elohenu, and even we do not know with what we must serve HaShem until we arrive there."

27  But HaShem hardened Pharoh's heart, and he would not let them go.

28  Then Pharoh said to him, "Get away from me! Take heed to yourself and see my face no more! For in the day you see my face you shall die!"

29  And Mosheh said, "You have spoken well. I will never see your face again."

Exodus 11:

1  And HaShem said to Mosheh, "I will bring yet one more plague on Pharoh and on Mitzraim. Afterward he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out of here altogether.

2  "Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbor and every woman from her neighbor, articles of silver and articles of gold."

3  And HaShem gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Mosheh was very great in the land of Mitzraim, in the sight of Pharoh's servants and in the sight of the people.

 4  Then Mosheh said, "Thus says HaShem: `About midnight I will go out into the midst of Mitzraim;

5  `and all the firstborn in the land of Mitzraim shall die, from the firstborn of Pharoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals.

6  `Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Mitzraim, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again.

7  `But against none of the Son’s of Yisrael shall a dog move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that HaShem does make a difference between the Egyptians and Yisrael.'

8  "And all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, `Get out, and all the people who follow you!' After that I will go out." Then he went out from Pharoh in great anger.

9  But HaShem said to Mosheh, "Pharoh will not heed you, so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Mitzraim."

10  So Mosheh and Aharon did all these wonders before Pharoh; and HaShem hardened Pharoh's heart, and he did not let the Son’s of Yisrael go out of his land.

Exodus 12:

1  Now HaShem spoke to Mosheh and Aharon in the land of Mitzraim, saying,

2  "This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.

3  "Speak to all the congregation of Yisrael, saying: `On the tenth day of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.

4  `And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man's need you shall make your count for the lamb.

5  `Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.

6  `Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole

assembly of the congregation of Yisrael (lxer!W;y9-tdaf3 lhaq4 lKo - Kol Qe-hal adat~Yisrael)  (All holy Israel congregation) shall kill it at twilight.

7  `And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.

8 `Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread (tOcZma - Maz-zot) and with bitter herbs (Myr9rom; - Me-ro-rim / Me-ro-rah) they shall eat it.

9  `Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire__its head with its legs and its entrails.

10  `You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire.

11  `And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is HaShem'S  Pesach (HsaP, - Passover).

12  `For I will pass through the land of Mitzraim on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Mitzraim, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Mitzraim I will execute judgment: I am Adonai (hvhy)

13  `Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Mitzraim.

14  `So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to HaShem throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.

15  `Seven days you shall eat Mazzot. On the first day you shall remove leaven (shall cease to leaven) from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person (wp,n0@ha - han-nephesh  - the soul) shall be cut off from Yisrael.

16  `On the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you. No manner of work shall be done on them; but that which everyone must eat__that only may be prepared by you.

17  `So you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread (tOcZm0aha-tx, - et~Ham-mazzot), for on this same day I will have brought your armies (Host) out of the land of Mitzraim. Therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as an everlasting ordinance.

18  `In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat Mazzot, until the twenty_first day (7 days) of the month at evening.

19  `For seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses, since whoever eats what is leavened, that same person shall be cut off from the congregation of Yisrael, whether he is a stranger (rn20Ba - Ban-ner - a foreigner) or a native of the land.

20  `You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat Matzot.'"

21  Then Mosheh called for all the elders of Yisrael and said to them, "Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families, and kill the Pesach lamb (hW, -ser is not here).

22  "And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning.

23  "For HaShem will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, HaShem will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.

24  "And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever.

25  "It will come to pass when you come to the land which HaShem will give you, just as He promised, that you shall keep this service.

26  "And it shall be, when your Son’s say to you, `What do you mean by this service?'

27  "that you shall say, `It is the Pesach sacrifice of HaShem, who passed over the houses of the Son’s of Yisrael in Mitzraim when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our households.'" So the people bowed their heads and worshiped.

28  Then the Son’s of Yisrael went away and did so; just as HaShem had commanded Mosheh and Aharon, so they did.

29  And it came to pass at midnight that HaShem struck all the firstborn in the land of Mitzraim, from the firstborn of Pharoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of livestock.

30  So Pharoh rose in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Mitzraim, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

31  Then he called for Mosheh and Aharon by night, and said, "Rise, go out from among my people, both you and the Son’s of Yisrael. And go, serve HaShem as you have said.

32  "Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also."

33  And the Egyptians urged the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste. For they said, "We shall all be dead."

34  So the people took their dough before it was leavened, having their kneading bowls bound up in their clothes on their shoulders.

35  Now the Son’s of Yisrael had done according to the word of Mosheh, and they had asked from the Egyptians articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing.

36  And HaShem had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.

37  Then the Son’s of Yisrael journeyed from Rae-me-sem (Msem;f;r1 - Rameses -son of the sun) to Suk-kotah    (HtAKosu - Succoth - booth/tabernacle), about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children.

38  A mixed multitude went up with them also, and flocks and herds__a great deal of livestock.

39  And they baked Matzot cakes of the dough which they had brought out of Mitzraim; for it was not leavened, because they were driven out of Mitzraim and could not wait, nor had they prepared provisions for themselves.

40  Now the sojourn of the Son’s of Yisrael who lived in Mitzraim was four hundred and thirty years.

41  And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years__on that very same day__it came to pass that all the armies (xbAcA) of HaShem went out from the land of Mitzraim.

42  It is a night of solemn observance to HaShem ( Myrim0uwi  lyle - celebration night) for bringing them out of the land of Mitzraim. This is that night of HaShem, a solemn observance

(Myrim0uwi  hvAhoyla  hz!0ha  hlAy4l0aha-xUh - Hu~hal-lay-lah  haz-zeh  la-Hovah  Shim-murim  - This is the night of celebration to Yehovah) for all the Son’s of Yisrael throughout their generations.

( A play on words Myrim0uwi  Shim-murim celebrate & MyrimAw&  Shema-rim, yeast).

43  And HaShem said to Mosheh and Aharon, "This is the ordinance of the Pesach:

No foreigner (nechar - stranger) shall eat it.

{OB lkax)y-xlo rkAn2-NB,-lKA HsaP!ha - HaPesach  kal~ben~nechar  lo-yichal  bo - “every son of a stranger shall not come to eat”).

44  "But every man's servant who is bought for money, when you have circumcised *(lUm) him, then he may eat it.  (You have been bought with a price, your hearts have been circumcised, and you serve each other). *(Mul = to remove that which is unclean; see Deut 10:16 -Circum.  heart)

45  "A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat it

(OB-lkax)y-xlo rykiWAv4 bwAOT  - toshav ve-sachir  lo~yichal-bo -

a stranger/emigrant and hireling shall not come to eat”).

46  "In one house it shall be eaten; you shall not carry any of the flesh outside the house, nor shall you break one of its bones.

47  "All the congregation of Yisrael shall keep it.

48  "And when a stranger (rn20 -ner  - foreigner: someone we don’t know very well)  dwells with you and wants to keep the Pesach to HaShem, let all his males be circumcised (lUm), and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it (no one who has not purged uncleanness from their lives.)

49  "One law shall be for the native_born and for the stranger who dwells among you."

50  Thus all the Son’s of Yisrael did; as HaShem commanded Mosheh and Aharon, so they did.

51  And it came to pass, on that very same day, that HaShem brought the Son’s of Yisrael out of the land of Mitzraim according to their armies (MtAxob;ci-lfa - al~zive-otam  - host).

 Exodus 13:

1  Then HaShem spoke to Mosheh, saying,

2  "Consecrate to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the Son’s of Yisrael, both of man and beast; it is Mine."

3  And Mosheh said to the people: "Remember this day in which you went out of Mitzraim, out of the house of bondage (MydibAf3 tyBemi  -mib-bet  avadim  -house slaves); for by strength of hand HaShem brought you out of this place.  No leavened bread shall be eaten.  (You are not to betake of an unclean lifestyle or anything contrary to God’s instructions).

4  "On this day you are going out, in the month Aviv ( bybixAhA wd,HoB; - be-chodesh  ha-aviv - “new moon of the green ears of corn”) (If there was no rain, no green ears, no way to know).

5  "And it shall be, when HaShem brings you into the land of the Cenaani and the Hit-ti (fear/terror) and the Amori (boastful) and the Chui (villagers) and the Ye-vumi (trodden down, Jebusites), which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.

^(wbAd4U bl!hA tbaz! Cr@x; - erez  zavat  halav  ur-vash -             (Delicacies of nature.  God will provide for them)

6  "Seven days you shall eat Matzot, and on the seventh day there shall be a feast to HaShem.

7  "Matzot shall be eaten seven days. And no leavened bread shall be seen among you, nor shall leaven be seen among you in all your quarters.  (Notice how He keeps going over this!)

8  "And you shall tell your son in that day, saying, `This is done because of what HaShem did for me when I came up from Mitzraim.'

9  "It shall be as a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that HaShem's law may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand HaShem has brought you out of Mitzraim.

 (hLA0piT; Te-phil-lah  - Prayer    or  Myli0piT4  Te-phil-lim  - Prayers)

10  "You shall therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.

11  "And it shall be, when HaShem brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as He swore to you and your fathers, and gives it to you,

12  "that you shall set apart to HaShem all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be HaShem's.

13  "But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.

14  "So it shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, `What is this?' that you shall say to him, `By strength of hand HaShem brought us out of Mitzraim, out of the house of bondage

( MydibAf3 tyBemi  - mib-bet  abe-dim  - house of slaves) (What were you a slave to?)

15  `And it came to pass, when Pharoh was stubborn about letting us go, that HaShem killed all the firstborn in the land of Mitzraim, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast. Therefore I sacrifice to HaShem all males that open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.'

16  "It shall be as a sign on your hand and as frontlets between your eyes, for by strength of hand HaShem brought us out of Mitzraim."  (hLA0piT; Te-phil-lah  or  Myli0piT4  Te-phil-lim ).

Jeremiah 46:

13  The word that HaShem spoke to Yire-me-yahu (Uhy!m;r4y9 -  Jeremiah) the prophet, how Nevuchad-rez-zar king of Bavel would come and strike the land of Mitzraim.

14  "Declare in Mitzraim, and proclaim in Migdol (tower);  Proclaim in Noph (Memphis) and in Tah-pan-chem (age of beginning; city in Egypt); Say, `Stand fast and prepare yourselves, For the sword devours all around you.'

15Why are your valiant men swept away? They did not stand Because HaShem drove them away

16  He made many fall; Yes, one fell upon another. And they said, `Arise! Let us go back to our own people And to the land of our nativity From the oppressing sword.'

17  They cried there, `Pharoh, king of Mitzraim, is but a noise. He has passed by the appointed time!'

18  "As I live," says the King, Whose name is HaShem Ze-vaot (of hosts), "Surely as Tavor is among the mountains And as Carmel by the sea, so he shall come.

19  O you daughter dwelling in Mitzraim, Prepare yourself to go into captivity! For Noph shall be waste and desolate, without inhabitant.

20  "Mitzraim is a very pretty heifer, But destruction comes, it comes from the north.

21  Also her mercenaries are in her midst like fat bulls, For they also are turned back, They have fled away together. They did not stand, For the day of their calamity had come upon them, The time of their punishment.

22  Her noise shall go like a serpent, For they shall march with an army And come against her with axes, Like those who chop wood.

23  "They shall cut down her forest," says HaShem, "Though it cannot be searched, Because they are innumerable, And more numerous than grasshoppers.

24  The daughter of Mitzraim shall be ashamed; She shall be delivered into the hand Of the people of the north."

25  HaShem Ze-vaot,  Elohe of Yisrael, says: "Behold, I will bring punishment on Amon (sun god) of Nov (high place), and Pharoh and Mitzraim, with their gods and their kings–Pharoh and those who trust in him.

26  "And I will deliver them into the hand of those who seek their lives, into the hand of Nevuchad-nez-zar king of Bavel and the hand of his servants. Afterward it shall be inhabited as in the days of old," says HaShem.

27  "But do not fear, O My servant Ya’acov, And do not be dismayed, O Yisrael! For behold, I will save you from afar, And your offspring from the land of their captivity; Ya’acov shall return, have rest and be at ease; No one shall make him afraid.

28  Do not fear, O Ya’acov My servant," says HaShem, "For I am with you; For I will make a complete end of all the nations To which I have driven you, But I will not make a complete end of you. I will rightly correct you, For I will not leave you wholly unpunished."

Matthew 26:

17  Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread (Matzot) the disciples came to Yeshua, saying to Him, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover (Pesach)?"

18  And He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, `The Teacher says, "My time is at hand; I will keep the Pesach at your house with My disciples."'"

19  So the disciples did as Yeshua had directed them; and they prepared the Pesach.

20  When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve.

21  Now as they were eating, He said, "Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me."

22  And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, "Lord, is it I?"

23  He answered and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me.

24  "The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born."

25  Then Y’hudah,  who was betraying Him, answered and said, "Rabbi, is it I?" He said to him, "You have said it."

26  And as they were eating, Yeshua took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."

27  Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.

28  "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29  "But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."

30  And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
