Exodus
6:
2 And
Elohim spoke to Moseh and said to him: "I am Adonai.
3
"I appeared to Avraham, to Yitzak, and to Ya’acov,
as El Shaddai ( yD!wa lxe God all powerful) , but by My name hvhy I was not known to them.
4
"I have also established My covenant with them, to give them the
land of Cenaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were
strangers.
5
"And I have also heard the groaning of the son’s of Yisrael
whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.
6
"Therefore say to the Son’s of Yisrael: `I am Adonai;
I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you
from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with
great judgments.
7 `I
will take you as My people, and I will be Elohechem.( Mkeyhelox$ ) Then you shall know that I am Adonai
Elohechem who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
8
`And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Avraham,
Yitzak, and Ya’acov; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I
am Adonai.'"
9 So Moseh
spoke thus to the son’s of Yisrael; but they did not heed Moseh,
because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.
10
And Adonai spoke to Moseh, saying,
11
"Go in, tell Pharoh king of Mitzraim to let the son’s
of Yisrael go out of his land."
12
And Moseh spoke before Adonai, saying, "The son’s of Yisrael
have not heeded me. How then shall Pharoh heed me, for I am of
uncircumcised lips?"
13
Then Adonai spoke to Moseh and Aharon, and gave
them a command for the son’s of Yisrael and for Pharoh king of Mitzraim,
to bring the son’s of Yisrael out of the land of Mitzraim.
14 These are the heads of their fathers'
houses: The sons of Revben, the firstborn of Yisrael, were
Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. These are the families of Reuben.
15
And the sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and
Shaul the son of a Cenaanite woman. These are the families of Simeon.
16
These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations:
Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. And the years of the life of Levi were one hundred
and thirty_seven.
17
The sons of Gershon were Libni and Shimi according to their families.
18
And the sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. And the
years of the life of Kohath were one hundred and thirty_three.
19
The sons of Merari were Mahali and Mushi. These are the families of Levi
according to their generations.
20
Now Amram took for himself Jochebed, his father's sister, as wife; and
she bore him Aharon and Moseh. And the years of the life of Amram were one
hundred and thirty_seven.
21
The sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri.
22
And the sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan, and Zithri.
23 Aharon took to himself Eli-sheva,
daughter of Am-min-adav, sister of Nah-shon, as wife; and she
bore him Na-dav, Avi-hu, Ele-azar, and Itha-mar.
24
And the sons of Korah were As-sir, El-kanah, and Avi-asa-ph. These are
the families of the Kor-ahi.(Korahites)
25 Ele-azar,
Aharon's son, took for himself one of the daughters of Pu-ti-el ("God
afflicted")
as wife; and she bore him Phine-has.
These are the heads of the fathers' houses of the
Le-viyim
according to their mish-p-pechotem ( MtAHoP;w;mi families).
26
These are the same Aharon and Moseh to whom Adonai
said, "Bring out the son’s of Yisrael from the land of Mitzraim
according to their armies."
27
These are the ones who spoke to Pharoh king of Mitzraim,
to bring out the son’s of Yisrael from Mitzraim. These are the
same Moseh and Aharon.
28
And it came to pass, on the day Adonai spoke to Moseh in
the land of Mitzraim,
29 that Adonai spoke to Moseh,
saying, "I am Adonai. Speak to Pharoh king of Mitzraim
all that I say to you."
30
But Moseh said before Adonai, "Behold, I am of
uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharoh heed me?"
Exodus
7:
1 So Adonai said to Moseh:
"See, I have made you as Elohim to Pharoh, and Aharon
your brother shall be your prophet.
2
"You shall speak all that I command you. And Aharon your
brother shall speak to Pharoh to send the son’s of Yisrael out of
his land.
3
"And I will harden Pharoh's heart, and multiply My signs and
My wonders in the land of Mitzraim.
4
"But Pharoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Mitzraim
and bring My armies and My people, the son’s of Yisrael, out of the land
of Mitzraim by great judgments.
5
"And the Egyptians shall know that I am Adonai, when I
stretch out My hand on Mitzraim and bring out the son’s of Yisrael
from among them."
6
Then Moseh and Aharon did so; just as Adonai
commanded them, so they did.
7 And
Moseh was eighty years old and Aharon eighty_three years old when
they spoke to Pharoh.
8
Then Adonai spoke to Moseh and Aharon, saying,
9
"When Pharoh speaks to you, saying, `Show a miracle for
yourselves,' then you shall say to Aharon, `Take your rod and cast it
before Pharoh, and let it become a serpent.'"
10 So
Moseh and Aharon went in to Pharoh, and they did so, just
as Adonai commanded. And Aharon cast down his rod before Pharoh
and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
11
But Pharoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the
magicians of Mitzraim, they also did in like manner with their
enchantments.
12
For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aharon's
rod swallowed up their rods.
13
And Pharoh's heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as Adonai
had said.
14 So
Adonai said to Moseh: "Pharoh's heart is hard; he
refuses to let the people go.
15 "Go to Pharoh in the morning, when he goes out to the
water, and you shall stand by the river's bank to meet him; and the rod which
was turned to a serpent you shall take in your hand.
16
"And you shall say to him, `Adonai Elohe of the Iv-rim
has sent me to you, saying, "Let My people go, that they may serve Me in
the wilderness"; but indeed, until now you would not hear!
17
`Thus says Adonai: "By this you shall know that I am Adonai.
Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in
my hand, and they shall be turned to blood.
18
"And the fish that are in the river shall die, the river shall
stink, and the Egyptians will loathe to drink the water of the
river."'"
19 Then Adonai spoke to Moseh,
"Say to Aharon, `Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the
waters of Mitzraim, over their streams, over their rivers, over their
ponds, and over all their pools of water, that they may become blood. And there
shall be blood throughout all the land of Mitzraim, both in buckets of
wood and pitchers of stone.'"
20
And Moseh and Aharon did so, just as Adonai
commanded. So he lifted up the rod and struck the waters that were in the
river, in the sight of Pharoh and in the sight of his servants. And all
the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.
21
The fish that were in the river died, the river stank, and the Egyptians
could not drink the water of the river. So there was blood throughout all the
land of Mitzraim.
22 Then the magicians of Mitzraim did so
with their enchantments; and Pharoh's heart grew hard, and he did not
heed them, as Adonai had said.
23
And Pharoh turned and went into his house. Neither was his heart
moved by this.
24 So
all the Egyptians dug all around the river for water to drink, because they
could not drink the water of the river.
25
And seven days passed after Adonai had struck the river.
Exodus
8:
1 And Adonai spoke to Moseh,
"Go to Pharoh and say to him, `Thus says Adonai: "Let
My people go, that they may serve Me.
2
"But if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all your
territory with frogs.
3
"So the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up
and come into your house, into your bedroom, on your bed, into the houses of
your servants, on your people, into your ovens, and into your kneading bowls.
4 "And the frogs shall come up on you, on
your people, and on all your servants."'"
5
Then Adonai spoke to Moseh, "Say to Aharon, `Stretch
out your hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the
ponds, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Mitzraim.'"
6 So Aharon
stretched out his hand over the waters of Mitzraim, and the frogs came
up and covered the land of Mitzraim.
7 And
the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land
of Mitzraim.
8
Then Pharoh called for Moseh and Aharon, and said,
"Entreat Adonai that He may take away the frogs from me and from my
people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to Adonai."
9 And
Moseh said to Pharoh, "Accept the honor of saying when I
shall intercede for you, for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the
frogs from you and your houses, that they may remain in the river only."
10 So
he said, "Tomorrow." And he said, "Let it be according to your
word, that you may know that there is no one like Adonai Elohenu.
11
"And the frogs shall depart from you, from your houses, from your
servants, and from your people. They shall remain in the river only."
12 Then Moseh and Aharon went out
from Pharoh. And Moseh cried out to Adonai concerning the
frogs which He had brought against Pharoh.
13 So
Adonai did according to the word of Moseh. And the frogs died out
of the houses, out of the courtyards, and out of the fields.
14
They gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.
15
But when Pharoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart
and did not heed them, as Adonai had said.
16 So Adonai said to Moseh,
"Say to Aharon, `Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the
land, so that it may become lice throughout all the land of Mitzraim.'"
17
And they did so. For Aharon stretched out his hand with his rod
and struck the dust of the earth, and it became lice on man and beast. All the
dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Mitzraim.
18
Now the magicians so worked with their enchantments to bring forth lice,
but they could not. So there were lice on man and beast.
19 Then the magicians said to Pharoh,
"This is the finger of Elohim." But Pharoh's heart grew
hard, and he did not heed them, just as Adonai had said.
20
And Adonai said to Moseh, "Rise early in the morning
and stand before Pharoh as he comes out to the water. Then say to him,
`Thus says Adonai: "Let My people go, that they may serve Me.
21
"Or else, if you will not let My people go, behold, I will send
swarms of flies on you and your servants, on your people and into your houses.
The houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the
ground on which they stand.
22
"And in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My
people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may
know that I am Adonai in the midst of the land.
23
"I will make a difference between My people and your people.
Tomorrow this sign shall be."'"
24
And Adonai did so. Thick swarms of flies came into the house of Pharoh,
into his servants' houses, and into all the land of Mitzraim. The land
was corrupted because of the swarms of flies.
25
Then Pharoh called for Moseh and Aharon, and said,
"Go, sacrifice to your God in the land." (Meaning the land of Egypt.)
26
And Moseh said, "It is not right to do so, for we would be
sacrificing the abomination of the Egyptians to Adonai Elohenu. If we
sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, then will they
not stone us? (Because they worshiped cows and bulls.)
27
"We will go three days' journey into the wilderness and sacrifice
to Adonai Elohenu as He will command us."
28
And Pharoh said, "I will let you go, that you may sacrifice
to Adonai Elohechem in the wilderness; only you shall not go very far
away. Intercede for me."
29
Then Moseh said, "Indeed I am going out from you, and I will
entreat Adonai, that the swarms of flies may depart tomorrow from Pharoh,
from his servants, and from his people. But let Pharoh not deal
deceitfully anymore in not letting the people go to sacrifice to Adonai."
30 So
Moseh went out from Pharoh and entreated Adonai.
31
And Adonai did according to the word of Moseh; He removed
the swarms of flies from Pharoh, from his servants, and from his people.
Not one remained.
32
But Pharoh hardened his heart at this time also; neither would he
let the people go.
Exodus
9: 1 Then Adonai said to Moseh, "Go in to Pharoh
and tell him, `Thus says Adonai Elohe of the Iv-rim:
"Let My people go, that they may serve Me.
2
"For if you refuse to let them go, and still hold them,
3
"behold, the hand of Adonai will be on your cattle in the
field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the oxen, and on the
sheep__a very severe pestilence.
4
"And Adonai will make a difference between the livestock of Yisrael
and the livestock of Mitzraim. So nothing shall die of all that belongs
to the son’s of Yisrael."'"
5
Then Adonai appointed a set time, saying, "Tomorrow Adonai
will do this thing in the land."
6 So Adonai
did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Mitzraim died;
but of the livestock of the son’s of Yisrael, not one died.
7
Then Pharoh sent, and indeed, not even one of the livestock of Yisrael
was dead. But the heart of Pharoh became hard, and he did not let
the people go.
8 So Adonai said to Moseh and Aharon,
"Take for yourselves handfuls of ashes from a furnace, and let Moseh
scatter it toward the heavens in the sight of Pharoh.
9
"And it will become fine dust in all the land of Mitzraim,
and it will cause boils that break out in sores on man and beast throughout all
the land of Mitzraim."
10
Then they took ashes from the furnace and stood before Pharoh,
and Moseh scattered them toward heaven. And they caused boils that break
out in sores on man and beast.
11 And the magicians ( MFor4Ha Char-tom = sacred scribs) could not stand
before Moseh because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians
and on all the Egyptians.
12
But Adonai hardened the heart of Pharoh; and
he did not heed them, just as Adonai had spoken to Moseh.
13 Then Adonai said to Moseh,
"Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharoh, and say to him,
`Thus says Adonai Elohe of the Iv-rim: "Let My people
go, that they may serve Me,
14
"for at this time I will send all My plagues to your very heart,
and on your servants and on your people, that you may know that there is none
like Me in all the earth.
15
"Now if I had stretched out My hand and struck you
and your people with pestilence, then you would have been cut off from the
earth.
16
"But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show
My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.
17
"As yet you exalt yourself against My people in that you will not
let them go.
18
"Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause very heavy hail to
rain down, such as has not been in Mitzraim since its founding until
now.
19 "Therefore send now and gather your
livestock and all that you have in the field, for the hail shall come down on
every man and every animal which is found in the field and is not brought home;
and they shall die."'"
20 He
who feared the word of Adonai among the servants of Pharoh
made his servants and his livestock flee to the houses.
21
But he who did not regard the word of Adonai left his servants and
his livestock in the field.
22
Then Adonai said to Moseh, "Stretch out your hand
toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Mitzraim__on
man, on beast, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Mitzraim."
23
And Moseh stretched out his rod toward heaven; and Adonai
sent thunder and hail, and fire darted to the ground. And Adonai rained
hail on the land of Mitzraim.
24 So
there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, so very heavy that there was
none like it in all the land of Mitzraim since it became a nation.
25
And the hail struck throughout the whole land of Mitzraim, all
that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail struck every herb of
the field and broke every tree of the field.
26
Only in the land of Goshen, where the son’s of Yisrael were,
there was no hail.
27
And Pharoh sent and called for Moseh and Aharon,
and said to them, "I have sinned this time. Adonai is
righteous, and my people and I are wicked.
28
"Entreat Adonai, that there may be no more mighty thundering
and hail, for it is enough. I will let you go, and you shall stay no
longer."
29 So
Moseh said to him, "As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will
spread out my hands to Adonai; the thunder will cease, and there will be
no more hail, that you may know that the earth is hv!hoyla.
30
"But as for you and your servants, I know that you will not yet
fear Adonai Elohim."
31
Now the flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was in the head
and the flax was in bud.
32
But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they are late crops.
33 So
Moseh went out of the city from Pharoh and spread out his hands
to Adonai; then the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain was not
poured on the earth.
34
And when Pharoh saw that the rain, the hail, and the thunder had
ceased, he sinned yet more; and he hardened his heart, he and his servants.
35 So
the heart of Pharoh was hard; neither would he let the son’s of Yisrael
go, as Adonai had spoken by Moseh.
Haftarah
Isaiah
66:
1
Thus says Adonai: "Heaven is My throne, And earth is My
footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of
My rest?
2 For
all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist," Says Adonai.
"But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit,
And who trembles at My word.
3
"He who kills a bull is as if he slays a man; He who sacrifices a
lamb, as if he breaks a dog's neck; He who offers a grain offering, as if he
offers swine's blood; He who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol. Just as
they have chosen their own ways, And their soul delights in their abominations,
4 So
will I choose their delusions, And bring their fears on them; Because, when I
called, no one answered, When I spoke they did not hear; But they did evil
before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight."
5
Hear the word of Adonai, You who tremble at His word: "Your
brethren who hated you, Who cast you out for My name's sake, said, `Let Adonai
be glorified, That we may see your joy.' But they shall be ashamed."
6 The
sound of noise from the city! A voice from the temple! The voice of Adonai,
Who fully repays His enemies!
7
"Before she was in labor, she gave birth; Before her pain came, She
delivered a male child.
8 Who
has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to
give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Tzion
was in labor, She gave birth to her children.
9
Shall I bring to the time of birth, and not cause delivery?" says Adonai.
"Shall I who cause delivery shut up the womb?" says Elohechem.
10
"Rejoice with Yerushalaim, And be glad with her, all you who
love her; Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her;
11
That you may feed and be satisfied With the consolation of her bosom,
That you may drink deeply and be delighted With the abundance of her
glory."
12 For
thus says Adonai: "Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river,
And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream. Then you shall feed; On
her sides shall you be carried, And be dandled on her knees.
13 As
one whom his mother comforts, So I will comfort you; And you shall be comforted
in Yerushalaim."
14
When you see this, your heart shall rejoice, And your bones shall
flourish like grass; The hand of Adonai shall be known to His servants,
And His indignation to His enemies.
15
For behold, Adonai will come with fire And with His chariots,
like a whirlwind, To render His anger with fury, And His rebuke with flames of
fire.
16
For by fire and by His sword Adonai will judge all flesh; And the
slain of Adonai shall be many.
17
"Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves, To go to the
gardens After an idol in the midst, Eating swine's flesh and the abomination
and the mouse, Shall be consumed together," says Adonai.
18
"For I know their works and their thoughts. It shall be that I will
gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come and see My glory.
19
"I will set a sign among them; and those among them who escape I
will send to the nations: to Tar-shish (breaking/subjection -
Mediterranean) and Pul (elephant - African nation) and Lud (Ethiopia),
who draw the bow, and Tuval (Asia Minor) and Yavan (Greece), to
the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. And they
shall declare My glory among the Gentiles.
20
"Then they shall bring all your brethren for an offering to Adonai
out of all nations, on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on
camels, to My holy mountain Yerushalaim," says Adonai,
"as the son’s of Yisrael bring an offering in a clean vessel into
the house of Adonai.
21
"And I will also take some of them for Kohen (NheKo priest) and Leviyim," (My9y90v9l; Adhesion - join together) says Adonai.
22
"For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make
shall remain before Me," says Adonai, "So shall your
descendants and your name remain.
23
And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another, And from
one Shabbas to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me,"
says Adonai.
24
"And they shall go forth and look Upon the corpses of the men Who
have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, And their fire is
not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh."
B`rit Ha`Dashah Ke`ri’at
Romans
9:
1 I tell the truth in Messiah, I am not
lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in Ruach Ha-Kodesh (the
Holy Spirit),
2
that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart.
3 For
I could wish that I myself were accursed from Messiah for my brethren, my
countrymen according to the flesh,
4 who
are Israelis, to whom pertain the adoption, the Sh’khinah, the
covenants, the giving of the law, the service of Elohim, and the
promises;
5 of
whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Messiah came, who
is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.
6 But
it is not that the word of Elohim has taken no effect. For they are not
all Israel who are of Israel,
7 nor
are they all sons because they are the seed of Avraham; but, "In Yitzak
your seed shall be called."
8
That is, those who are the sons of the flesh, these are not the sons of Elohim;
but the sons of the promise are counted as the seed.
9
For this is the word of promise: "At this time I will come and Sarah
shall have a son."
10
And not only this, but when Revkah also had conceived by one man,
even by our father Yitzak
11
(for the sons not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that
the purpose of Elohim according to election might stand, not of works
but of Him who calls),
12 it
was said to her, "The older shall serve the younger."
13 As
it is written, "Ya’acov I have loved, but Esau I have
hated."
14
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with Elohim?
Certainly not!
15
For He says to Moshe, "I will have mercy on whomever I will have
mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion."
16 So
then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of Elohim who
shows mercy.
17
For the Torah says to Pharoh, "For this very purpose
I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be
declared in all the earth."
18
Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.
19
You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who has
resisted His will?"
20
But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against Elohim? Will the
thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why have you made me like
this?"
21
Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make
one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?
22
What if Elohim, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power
known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for
destruction,
23
and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of
mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory,
24
even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
25 As He says also in Hosea: "I
will call them My people, who were not My people, And her beloved, who was not
beloved."
26
"And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them,
`You are not My people,' There they shall be called sons of the living Elohim."
27 Ye-sha’yahu (Isaiah) also cries out
concerning Israel: "Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand
of the sea, The remnant will be saved.
28 For He will finish the work and cut it short
in righteousness, Because Adonai
will make a short work upon the earth."
29
And as Ye-sha’yahu said before: "Unless Adonai of Zava’ot
(Lord of the armies) had left us a seed, We would have become like So-dom,
And we would have been made like Amora (Gomorrah)."
30 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who
did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the
righteousness of faith;
31
but Israel, pursuing the Torah of righteousness, has not attained
to the Torah of righteousness.
32
Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works
of the `. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.
33 As
it is written: "Behold, I lay in Tzion a stumbling stone and rock
of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
