Parashot

There are varying schedules for Torah Readings in Synagogues. Many will use a 1 year schedule, while others use a 3 or 3-1/2 year schedule. Sukkot, Pesach and Shavuot are celebrated one extra day outside of Israel and this means that the Torah portions outside of Israel will fall one week behind. On the 1 year cycle, you will often find Double Torah portions scheduled in an effort to catch up to Torah portions being read in Israel.

In our congregation, we have chosen to use a "Triennial cycle" (3-year cycle) of Torah readings in order to more completely cover the study of Torah. Starting dates for the Triennial cycle may also vary from one synagogue to another as well as the Haftarah and Apostolic portions.
